The homebuilding business in Middle Tennessee in the post World War II era was dominated by locally owned and operated, home-grown companies. In 1952, Randall Phillips Sr. started such a business that would later become the largest homebuilder in Tennessee. Now, more than six decades later, his grandsons, Jason and Charlie Phillips, are carrying the proud family tradition forward. Each has grown up in the family business under the watchful eyes of their grandfather and father, Eddie Phillips, starting out as laborers, framers, estimators, and superintendents. They have learned the business from the bottom up, and are now poised to keep the home-grown, hometown, family business in the forefront of homebuilding throughout the middle Tennessee area. Phillips Builders embraces the same tried and true values—set forth by their grandfather back in 1952—of building a quality home at an affordable price, and treating every customer with respect. It is an exciting time for a proud family that has, for more than 60 years, made the American Dream of home ownership come true for so many Middle Tennesseans. The tradition endures.
